When I Think of skin care I think About longevity. I think about the strength and physical conditioning I need to survive and thrive in this world. I need to be resilient and healthy to sustain any unforeseen event. Just as I need food, I need to feel and look good. Those that feel good win.
Why Men Need Skincare: There might be a million stereo types when it comes to skin care. But since the skin is the largest organ in the male body, the skin is as manly as it gets. It protects us from external elements, it helps us make a first impression, and it helps us find potential mates by showing a sign of health.
Health First, Looks Second: For the above reason, skincare for men is about health and survival. Healthy skin helps to better protect us from environmental aggressors like pollution and UV rays, improves appearance, heals faster, and reduces the signs of aging. Skincare is more than just a tool to look your best, it’s about one of your organs performing at its best. In top of that, healthy skin makes you feel more confident and healthier, which transfers to feeling good at work and in personal life.
Modern Challenges: Going back to the first sentence- “When I think of skin care I think About longevity”. Today’s life’s expectancy for men is around 76 years old, and retirement age is 67. That means that we need to be prepared to work through the 60s and to sustain ourselves until at least 76 years old. With this in mind, taking care of our health and skin becomes part of our quality of life and success. We as men will create a better life for ourselves and our loves ones by maintaining our strength and vigor.
Simplicity over avoidance: Today’s busy lives limit our ability to take care of ourselves as we should. However, it must be done for the reasons mentioned above. Instead of avoiding it due to lack of time or energy. Let’s work on creating simple yet effective routines that maximize the results we achieve with skin care without taking too much of our time.
